Our story

Fincaloe

What started with a few humble Aloe vera plants outside our door has flourished into a thriving 10-hectare plantation. A sanctuary for transformative retreats, hands-on Aloe vera workshops, immersive Finca tours, and artisanal Aloe vera products. Our journey is rooted in a deep connection to the land and its wisdom, guided by a profound respect for the holistic benefits of Aloe vera.

Over the years, Fincaloe has evolved into more than just a place. It has become a living expression of our commitment to sustainability, wellness, and spiritual growth. Nestled in the quiet mountains of Cómpeta, Spain, amidst the sun-drenched hills of the Axarquía

Fincaloe has also expanded its roots from the sun-drenched hills of Spain to Ghent, Belgium, where we bring the spirit of Aloe vera closer to our European community. Here, you can immerse yourself in transformative workshops of Aloe vera, and find our artisanal products on local markets.

Breaking free, reconnecting with nature & myself

Like many, I found myself caught in the relentless rat race, always rushing, always busy. It left me drained, stressed, and disconnected from the world around me. But that changed when I visited my dad's finca surrounded by an off- grid natural valley, for the first time.

After a few days walking through my dad's new habitat, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. For the first time in years, I could truly feel again. I realized how exhausted I was, mentally and physically, and that my lifestyle needed to change. I also began to understand what it really means to be surrounded by nature. It's more than just taking a walk in the forest or a trip to the mountains. Immersing yourself in nature, integrating it into your daily life, through natural surroundings, food, skincare, and self-care, has a deep and lasting impact.

One sunny afternoon, as I walked through my dad's Aloe vera plantation, he shared why he chose to cultivate this plant. Its incredible benefits for health and beauty, especially its inner gel. Aloe vera had always been a trusted remedy in our Spanish home, used for everything from soothing burns to nourishing the skin.

Hearing my dad's stories sparked a deep curiosity in me. Inspired by his passion, I began exploring Aloe vera's many benefits. As I incorporated it into my routine, I saw and felt the difference. My skin glowed, drinking the gel gave me more energy, and I found comfort in its spiritual meaning; natural healing, protection, and spiritual renewal. It was as if my dad's finca and the Aloe vera plantation had revealed a hidden source of vitality within me that had been there all along. Beyond making changes to reconnect with nature and myself, I also discovered the joy of creating my own self-care products using fresh Aloe vera gel.

A New Chapter in Life

In 2019, I moved from Belgium to Spain to embark on a new chapter in life. A life that embraced a natural and back-to-basics lifestyle.

I stumbled upon an authentic Finca dating back to 1830, offering a picturesque view of the Mediterranean and a stunning 10-hectare plot adorned with ancient trees, including almonds, carobs, grapes, and olives. Despite my lack of prior gardening knowledge, I found inspiration in the pages of two books: "Jadam Organic Farming" (which offers insights into ultra-low-cost agriculture) and "Miyawaki Method - Mini Forest Revolution." While wandering through the garden of the Finca, I came across approximately 300 Aloe vera plants, including Aloe Barbadensis Miller and Aloe Arborescens.

Many of my neighbors were engaged in the cultivation of avocados and mangos, practices that demanded copious amounts of water and focused on monoculture. However, I felt compelled to chart a different course, though I held great sympathy for the local farmers.

Soon, a clear vision of my project took shape. I initiated an organic Aloe vera plantation with the dual purpose of financing the reforestation of the 10 hectares with native trees such as Algarrobo (carob tree), almond, moringa, and olive trees. In just three years, the plantation has thrived and now boasts 10,000+ Aloe vera plants, while our tree-planting efforts are also underway.
